Saxon Warrior Colt Strides Clear On Debut
Naxos (2c Saxon Warrior - Ecureuil, by Lope De Vega) shaped with great promise when making a winning debut at Newcastle on Tuesday.
George Boughey’s charge was well-supported in the market for the seven furlong novice stakes and had to overcome a slow start under Kevin Stott. Making headway from over two furlongs out, he asserted with ease a furlong later and was ridden out to score by a comfortable three lengths.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He got into a nice rhythm and when I gave him a squeeze he quickened really nicely.”
Owned and bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, Naxos continues a strong start at stud by Saxon Warrior, whose first crop includes six Stakes horses.
