Saxon Warrior Colt Strikes Late For Listed Prize
Zulu Warrior (3c Saxon Warrior - Zindziswa, by Smart Strike) overcame trouble in running to gain a first Stakes victory in Friday’s Listed Prix Turenne at Saint-Cloud.
Owned, bred and trained by Elisabeth Fabre, the son of Saxon Warrior has progressed since stepping up to a mile and a half, having registered two wins and a close fourth at Listed level. Partnered by Alexis Pouchin on his latest start, he tracked the leader for much of the way and found himself trapped on the rail until his rival edged right entering the final furlong. Driven along, he produced a smart turn of foot to lead close home and beat Track Of Time (Gleneagles) by a short neck.
Zulu Warrior hails from the first crop of Saxon Warrior, for whom he becomes a seventh Stakes winner. His black-type win comes just days after Freydis The Red (Saxon Warrior) secured a $1million dollar prize in the Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs.
