Saxon Warrior Juvenile Delivers On Debut
Blewburton (2g Saxon Warrior – Olga Da Polga, by Casamento) produced a smart debut performance to win Saturday’s five furlong maiden at Leicester.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s charge was the subject of some support in the market and was partnered by Charlie Bishop to race in touch with the leaders. Asked to quicken from two furlongs out, he began to quicken well a furlong later and led in the final 110 yards. He kept on to win by two lengths, with another length and three quarters back to the third.
“Blewburton is a nice horse,” said the winning trainer. “He wants six furlongs but they went hard and it suited him. It can be tricky with a penalty and we may look at the Woodcote at Epsom.”
Owned by Mrs RF Johnson Houghton and bred by Mrs Jackie Norris, he hails from the third crop of Saxon Warrior.
