Saxon Warrior Leads The Way At Goffs November Foal Sale
Saxon Warrior’s impressive start at stud was apparent on the first day of the Goffs November Foal Sale, where his latest crop accounted for three of the top four lots.
Top lot honours were awarded to Kildallan Farm’s Saxon Warrior colt, who brought €88,000 from Ballyhimikin Stud, themselves the yearling consignor of Saxon Warrior’s Breeders’ Cup winner Victoria Road.
Collegelands Stud’s son of Saxon Warrior led early trade when selling to Michael and Ciara Carty of Kilmoney Cottage Stud for €65,000. “He’s a nice colt and stood out today,” Ciara Carty commented. “He’s got plenty going for him, he’s from a nice pedigree and he’s by a sire who has done well and is going to have global appeal going forward.”
The shrewd Paul and Marie McCartan of Ballyphilip Stud later secured a Saxon Warrior colt offered by Rochestown Lodge Stud with a bid of €62,000. “We are delighted to get him,” Marie McCartan said of their purchase. “Saxon Warrior has made a great start to his stud career with a Breeders' Cup winner and all we need now is a bit of luck.”
