Sioux Nation Appeal Apparent At Craven Sale

Sioux Nation’s smart start at stud was reflected in the demand for his progeny at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, where Stroud Coleman Bloodstock went to 380,000gns for a colt offered by Mocklershill.

The half-brother to talented juvenile Twilight Gleaming was just the second lot into the ring on Wednesday, but buyers came prepared following the colt’s smart breeze on Monday. After seeing off the attentions of Najd Stud and Blandford Bloodstock, Anthony Stroud revealed that the bay had been purchased on behalf of KHK Racing, who will keep their recruit in the UK.

“He moved very well, did a good breeze and is from a good consignor; he just ticked the boxes,” Stroud commented. “He looks a real two-year-old as well. Sioux Nation has already had a winner, and hopefully this horse is another one who could put him on the map.”

Willie Browne’s Mocklershill enjoyed another successful result shortly after, when their second Sioux Nation colt was knocked down to Durcan Bloodstock for 110,000gns.

Heading the first season sire market, Sioux Nation enjoyed a perfect start at stud when his very first runner, Ocean Quest, made a winning debut at the Curragh. Such a promising start comes as little surprise, with Sioux Nation boasting a similar profile to Caravaggio and No Nay Never, in that they are all Royal Ascot and Group 1 winning two-year-olds by Scat Daddy.
