Sioux Nation Fillies Leads The Way At Tattersalls Ireland
Katie Walsh and Mark McStay renewed their love of Sioux Nation at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze-Up Sale, where the former’s Greenhills Farm sold a Sioux Nation filly to the latter’s Avenue Bloodstock for a sales-topping €370,000.
There was a sense of deja-vu, with a Sioux Nation colt having been sold by the same consignor to the same purchaser for €240,000 at the sale’s 2023 renewal. That colt was named Letsbefrankaboutit and went on to win the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes for Paddy Twomey, who will also train Friday’s star lot.
“This filly came highly recommended by Katie and she did an outstanding breeze,” McStay said of his pricey purchase. “We had to dig very deep to get her but there are no regrets. Let's hope she is lucky. Katie does a great job. She is one of the best in the business and her recommendations stand for an awful lot.”
Before Walsh’s filly graced the ring, another daughter of Sioux Nation held top lot status at €270,000. Purchased by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock, she represented a terrific result for Ryan Conran’s Lacka House Stables, who consigned the bay on behalf of breeder Matty Tynan.
“This filly came to me in October,” Conran revealed after the sale. “She has been brilliant ever since and we're just delighted to have the opportunity to sell her for our neighbours and good friends. I try and let the horses do the talking on the track, and thankfully it all went well and she backed up her homework.”
“It was the breeze that really stood out for us,” agent Matt Coleman later explained. “She breezed in one of the quickest times of the day and is a filly with plenty of size, scope and quality. She is by a proven sire and in my opinion Sioux Nation is upgrading his mares.”
