Sioux Nation’s Impressive Start Continues With €130,000 Sale

A colt from the exciting first crop of Sioux Nation rewarded breeder Kerrie Leonard with a €130,000 sale at the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale on Thursday.

Sioux Nation’s first runners have made an impressive start, including a pair of unbeaten Stakes winners, and Folistown Farm’s colt out of Dorothy Parker entered notebooks with a smart breeze on Wednesday. After seeing off fierce competition in the sales ring the following day, the gavel fell in favour of Blandford Bloodstock’s Richard Brown.

Prepped and consigned by Charles Greene of nearby Folistown Farm, the bay was bred by Kerrie Leonard and provided a huge return on his sire’s starting fee of €12,500.

Sioux Nation celebrated his latest winner that same afternoon when Queen Serenity (2f Sioux Nation - Maybe I Will, by Hawk Wing) made a winning debut over five furlongs at Naples.

Trained by Vicenzo Fazio for Paolo Serrantino, she won in better style than the winning margin of a length and a half would suggest, with another ten lengths back to the third. The bay was bred by Corrib Racing out of a half-sister to Group 1 Matron Stakes winner Chachamaidee (Footstepsinthesand) and dual Group 3 winner J Wonder (Footstepsinthesand).
