Smart Calyx Filly Makes It Two From Two

Filly One (2f Calyx – Forever’s Girl, by Monsieur Bond) made it two from two when leading home a 1-2 for Calyx in Thursday’s Novice Stakes at Newcastle.

The Geoff Oldroyd-trained juvenile produced a game debut performance over course and distance last month and was sent off favourite to repeat the feat on her second start. Making all under Harry Russell, she was pushed clear a furlong from home and ran on well to win comfortably. Himawari (Calyx) finished two and a quarter lengths back in second, with another two and three quarter lengths back to the third.

Filly One is owned and bred by Bond Thoroughbred Limited, for whom she is the first winner out of Forever’s Girl.
