Smart Double Adds To Sioux Nation’s Impressive Tally

Elusive Tune (2f Sioux Nation - Flavia Tatiana, by Holy Roman Emperor) completed the first leg of a double for Sioux Nation on Wednesday when running out a comfortable winner at Dundalk.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained filly was well-supported on debut last month, but suffered interference in the early stages, and remained over seven furlongs on her second start. Positioned in midfield by Mikey Sheehy, the bay made headway approaching the two furlong marker and showed signs of inexperienced when leading inside the final furlong. Pushed out, she won by two lengths, with another length and a quarter back to a previous winner in third.

“She quickened up nicely and put the race to bed well,” Sheehy later commented. “She has got the right attitude and she has the will to win.”

Owned by Mrs Anne Marie O’Brien, Elusive Tune was bred by Whisperview Trading out of Flavia Tatiana (Holy Roman Emperor).

Just ten minutes later at Varese, Sopran Magritta (2f Sioux Nation - Icebreaking, by Elusive City) ran out an impressive four length winner of the ten furlong maiden.

Second last time out, Grizzetti Galoppo’s charge is owned by Leonardo Ciampoli and was bred by Allevamento La Nuova Sbarra. Her dam, Icebreaking, has a yearling colt by Footstepsinthesand and returned to Sioux Nation this year.

Sioux Nation is now responsible for 45 winners.
