Smart Sioux Nation Colt Takes Deauville Maiden
Tortisambert (3c Sioux Nation – Top Chain, by Acclamation) confirmed the promise of his debut when justifying favouritism in Friday’s maiden at Deauville.
Fabrice Chappet’s charge finished fourth over seven and a half furlongs in December and enjoyed form boosts when the runner-up and fifth later won. Dropping down to six and a half furlongs on his second start, he was sent off favourite under Stephane Pasquier and raced towards the back of the field in the early stages. Quickening on the turn for home, he ran on well to lead inside the final furlong and went on to win by two lengths, going away.
Tortisambert is owned by Gerard Augustin-Normand and was bred by Mat Daguzab-Garros. The son of Sioux Nation is a full-brother to useful sprinter Sipahsalar (Sioux Nation).
