Son Of Holy Roman Emperor Captures Valuable Sprint
The Osama Omer Al-Dafea owned and trained Taxiwala (4g Holy Roman Emperor - It’s True, by Kheleyf) added to a fine season when landing the $250,000 Dukhan Sprint in Doha on Saturday.
Run over six furlongs, the local Group 3 enjoyed a thrilling finish as Taxiwala dug deep to deny French Group performer Zyzzyva by half a length on the line. It marked a fourth win this season for the four-year-old, who captured the Muaither Cup last month and took the Al Shaqab Racing Trophy earlier this month.
The son of Holy Roman Emperor was previously trained by Archie Watson, for whom he won a novice stakes impressively as a two-year-old. A €105,000 foal purchase, the bay was bred by River Downs Stud and provides a nice update for his half-brother by Starspangledbanner, who fetched €58,000 at last year’s foal sales.
