Son Of Holy Roman Emperor Delivers On Debut Promise
Saturnalia (3g Holy Roman Emperor - Soprana, by Cadeaux Genereux) built on a promising debut to take Saturday’s seven furlong Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton.
The Richard Hughes-trained bay caught the eye earlier this month when finishing second to a more experienced rival, despite having suffered a slow start. That performance saw him sent off second favourite at the weekend, with George Rooke positioning his mount in midfield and waited until two furlongs out to make a move. Ridden to challenge inside the final furlong, he led close home to win by a nose.
There may be more to come from Saturnalia, who runs in the colours of Ms HN Pinniger. The son of Holy Roman Emperor was bred by Gestut Gorlsdorf and is a full-brother to two-year-old maiden winner Strozzi (Holy Roman Emperor).
