Son Of Holy Roman Emperor Doubles Up In Style
George Peabody (3g Holy Roman Emperor - Swordhalf, by Haafhd) followed up last month’s impressive maiden win by carrying a penalty to success in Saturday’s Novice Stakes at Thirsk.
Stepping up to a mile on Saturday, the George Scott-trained bay chased the leaders under Callum Shepherd and was travelling best of the field as they passed the two furlong marker. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he quickened into the lead 110yards out and scored by three parts of a length on the line.
Owned by the Gredley family, George Peabody was bought as a yearling for 90,000gns. The son of Holy Roman Emperor was bred by Gestut Wittekindshof out of Group 3 winner Swordhalf, who has a two-year-old filly by Mastercraftsman.
