Son Of Holy Roman Emperor Scores On Second Start
Bastogne (2g Holy Roman Emperor - Wavebreak, by Tiger Hill) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism in Monday’s six furlong maiden at Leicester.
The David Evans-trained bay is clearly well-regarded at home, having been sent off a short-priced favourite on debut eight days prior, when he finished third, despite showing signs of inexperience. Sent off favourite again on his second start, he chased the leaders under James Doyle and produced his challenge approaching the final furlong. Soon in front, he kept on well to win by three parts of a length.
The Richard Kent-owned winner was bred by Ballinafad Stud and is a grandson of Group 3 winner Neptune’s Bride.
