Son Of Sioux Nation Gets Off The Mark In Good Style
Jack Red Cloud (3g Sioux Nation - Melanippe, by Shirocco) built on previous promise to lead home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore sires in Friday’s seven furlong maiden at Dundalk.
The Andy Oliver owned and trained bay finished fourth on debut in a Leopardstown maiden, despite being slowly away, but encountered unsuitably soft ground on his next two starts. Racing on the all-weather for the first time on Friday, he led for much of the way under Ben Coen and was ridden when challenged two furlongs from home. Running on well approaching the final furlong, he kept on to win by a length and a quarter from Local Girl (Saxon Warrior), with another half a length back to One Boss (Saxon Warrior) in third.
The win is well-timed for Jack Red Cloud, who is entered in the upcoming Autumn Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls. The son of Sioux Nation was bred by Rathregan Stud out of a half-sister to Group 1 performer Tom Melbourne (Dylan Thomas).
