Son Of Starspangledbanner Not For Catching In Sprint Maiden

A drop back in trip saw the likeable General Assembly (3g Starspangledbanner – Black Rodded, by Bahamian Bounty) get off the mark in Tuesday’s five furlong maiden at Nottingham.

The Teme Valley Racing-owned chesnut debuted for George Boughey last month, when he was headed close home by Joe Gargery (Starspangledbanner) and finished a close third to another smart type eight days later. Sent off the even-money favourite on Tuesday, he was ridden to make all by William Buick and asked to quicken approaching the final furlong. Eased close home, he led by a length on the line.

The promising son of Starspangledbanner was bred by John Hanly of Ballyhimikin Stud.
