Speedy Calyx Filly All Heart On Debut
Filly One (2f Calyx - Forever’s Girl, by Monsieur Bond) showed a likeable attitude when battling back for a debut win at Newcastle on Friday.
The Geoff Oldroyd-trained newcomer faced nine rivals in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes and raced in second for much of the six furlong contest. Produced to lead approaching the final furlong, she rallied clear with the short-priced favourite and regained the advantage in the shadow of the post. The pair finished two and a quarter lengths clear of the third.
The Bond Thororoughbred homebred becomes the first winner out of Forever’s Girl and continues an impressive start at stud by Calyx.
