Trio Of Six Figure Yearlings By Calyx At Tattersalls Book 2
The first yearlings by brilliant sprinter Calyx were well-received at Tattersalls Book 2, where they sold for up to 170,000gns.
MV Magnier bid the top price for a good-moving colt from Baroda Stud, whose winning dam hails from the family of champion three-year-old colt Almanzor (Wootton Bassett).
Calyx kicked off the sale with a pair of six-figure sales, beginning with Andrew Balding’s winning bid of 145,000gns for a filly from Cooneen Stud. Bred by Con Marnane out of Mia Divina, she is an example of the quality mares sent to Calyx in his first season at stud, having produced five winners, including two Group performers.
Rockfield Farm sent the dam of Listed winner Coltrane (Mastercraftsman) to Calyx and the resulting filly benefitted from a major update when Coltrane won the Group 2 Doncaster Cup. The daughter of Calyx was knocked down to Rabbah Bloodstock on Monday for 120,000gns.
Others who purchased Calyx’s first yearlings at Book 2 included BBA Ireland, Iain Jardine, Marco Botti, Highflyer Bloodstock, Eve Johnson Houghton and Karl and Kelly Burke.
