Unbeaten Sioux Nation Colt Earns Stakes Target

A step up to Stakes company is on the cards for Changeofmind (3c Sioux Nation - Dusty, by Paco Boy) after the son of Sioux Nation made it two from two in fine style on Wednesday.

The Declan Carroll-trained colt made all to win a Chester maiden on debut in June and has enjoyed form boosts since, with two of his beaten rivals going on to achieve ratings in the 90’s. Reunited with Harrison Shaw on return at Catterick, he raced prominently throughout the five furlong novice stakes and asserted two furlongs from home. Keeping on well inside the final furlong, he won by three lengths comfortably.

“That was fantastic,” the winning trainer said. “He's a really nice horse and we can only be delighted after he did that after a long time off. He's very exciting for us and one we rate a lot at home. He has lots of ability and natural talent.”

On future plans, Carroll said, “He'll go for the Westow Stakes next month at the Dante meeting. We'll take it one step at a time and keep our feet on the ground, but we have a lot of hope for him.”

Changeofmind is owned by Brendan Cooney, who bred the son of Sioux Nation at his Camogue Stud.
