No Nay Never’s son Arizona landed the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes, having previously won a Curragh maiden by 8 lengths. He later finished second to champion 2YO Pinatubo in the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes.
Arizona’s sire No Nay Never owes much of his early success to mares from the DANZIG male line. His top daughter Alcohol Free is out of a grand-daughter of Danzig by HARD SPUN and he is working very well with mares by sons of DANEHILL. They include EXCEED AND EXCEL (Champion Sprinter Ten Sovereigns), ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (Gr.2 scorer Land Force), KODIAC, ORATORIO, FASTNET ROCK and DANEHILL DANCER. HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, in 2023 alone, is broodmare sire of Caravaggio’s 2YO Gr.1 winner Porta Fortuna, Sioux Nation’s Gr.2 winner Brave Emperor and No Nay Never’s Gr.1-placed 2YO Mountain Bear.
The GREEN DESERT branch of the DANZIG line has also supplied some of No Nay Never’s top winners. His dual Gr.1 winner Blackbeard is out of a mare by BORN TO SEA, a son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, who in turn sired the dam of Gr.2 winner Trillium. Another Gr.2 winner, Aesop’s Fables, is out of a daughter of SHINKO FOREST. No Nay Never has a 7f Gr.3 winner out of a mare by SEA THE STARS. No Nay Never has an impressive 22% SWs out of mares by OASIS DREAM, including the 2023 Gr.2 2YO winners Array and Les Pavots. Sioux Nation, another of Scat Daddy’s sons, has several good winners inbred 3x3 to OASIS DREAM, including two Group-winning fillies.
Fast horses from the NUREYEV line could suit, such as daughters of PIVOTAL, EXCELLENT ART, CAPTAIN RIO and KYLLACHY. SIYOUNI, with his dam by DANEHILL, could be especially suitable. No Nay Never has Listed winners out of daughters of PIVOTAL and PEINTRE CELEBRE. THEATRICAL sired the 2nd dam of his Gr.1 winner Ten Sovereigns while PIVOTAL filled the same position in the pedigree of Blackbeard.
Although Arizona is inbred 4x5x4 to MR PROSPECTOR, this outstanding American stallion will be no closer than the fifth generation of Arizona’s offspring. No Nay Never is thriving with mares with MR PROSPECTOR blood.
STORM CAT will be well back in Arizona’s foals. He should suit mares by FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND, SHAMARDAL and LOPE DE VEGA. No Nay Never and Sioux Nation have Group winners inbred to STORM CAT.
The SADLER’S WELLS line has also had success with No Nay Never. His Gr.2 winners Shadn and Visualisation have dams by SADLER’S WELLS. No Nay Never also has Henry Adams and Midnight Mile, both Gr.3 winners at two, among his runners out of GALILEO mares. Mares by HIGH CHAPARRAL have produced three Group winners (14%) to No Nay Never and Ten Sovereigns already has a dual Listed winner out of one.
The SHIRLEY HEIGHTS male line has quickly made its mark with No Nay Never. His smart son Wichita had a dam by DASHING BLADE, while the 2022 2YO Gr.1 winner Meditate has a dam by DALAKHANI. Sioux Nation has a Gr.3 winner with a dam by DALAKHANI.
Mares from the quick-maturing ROYAL APPLAUSE line should help Arizona pass on his juvenile ability. Daughters of ACCLAMATION, DARK ANGEL, MEHMAS and EQUIANO would suit.
No Nay Never has a Gr.3 winner out of an INDIAN RIDGE mare and his Group winners Wichita, Land Force and Love Locket all have 2nd dams by INDIAN RIDGE.
