Camelot

A European Champion 2YO, it was by only three-quarters of a length that Camelot failed to become the first Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky in 1970 and only the second since Bahram in 1935. Camelot, has Group winners from daughters of three generations of stallions from the STORM CAT line. Classic winner Latrobe and Oaks second Pink Dogwood are out of a SHAMARDAL mare. Gr.3 winners include Skyward, out of a GIANT’S CAUSEWAY mare, and Pollara, out of a STORM CAT mare.

His Irish Oaks winner Even So and his dual American Gr.1 winner Santa Barbara have dams by DANEHILL and are therefore inbred 4x2 to the Champion Sire. Camelot has Group winners out of daughters of DANEHILL DANCER (Gr.1-winning 2YO Luxembourg), DUKE OF MARMALADE (Lady Wannabe), EXCEED AND EXCEL (Current Option), FASTNET ROCK (Youth Spirit) and HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR (Wait Forever). His Gr.1 winner Wonderment is from a grand-daughter of TIGER HILL.

The GREEN DESERT branch is reaping rich rewards. Camelot’s Group performers out of CAPE CROSS mares are headed by Russian Camelot, a dual Gr.1 winner in Australia. He sired the smart Sir Dragonet from a daughter of OASIS DREAM, plus Gr.3 2YO winner King’s Harlequin from an INVINCIBLE SPIRIT mare. A mare by GREEN DESERT produced his Gr.1 winner Athena and Gr.3 winner Goddess.

Camelot’s smart son Hunting Horn is out of a mare by INDIAN RIDGE, who also sired the second dam of his Gr.3-winner King’s Harlequin.

More MR PROSPECTOR is called for as Camelot’s useful son English King has a ZAFONIC dam. Camelot already has Gr.3 winners out of a DUBAWI mare and out of a grand-daughter of FORTY NINER, as well as Listed winners out of mares by DUBAI DESTINATION and GRAND SLAM.

Camelot sired the useful SIR EREC from a mare by GALILEO, while Sir Dragonet, Russian Camelot and Current Option are others inbred 3x3 to SADLER’S WELLS.

Camelot’s first Group winner, Fighting Irish, has a dam by PIVOTAL, the sire of SIYOUNI.

Camelot’s Gr.1 winner Sunny Queen has a dam by DARSHAAN and he has two Group-winners with second dams by SHIRLEY HEIGHTS, while DARSHAAN sired the second dams of Hunting Horn and English King.

SHARPEN UP is a path to follow as Camelot has SWs out of TREMPOLINO and HALLING mares.
