The end of an era is approaching, with Holy Roman Emperor – a member of Danehill’s last crop – turning 21 in 2025. But this member of Danehill’s dynasty still has plenty to offer. He was represented by three Group winners in 2024, including Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner Rashabar, and his yearlings sold for up to 200,000gns. The value of Holy Roman Emperor’s broodmare daughters has been underlined by the Gr.1 winners Porta Fortuna, Newspaperofrecord, Shale, Johannes Vermeer and Verbal Dexterity.
Holy Roman Emperor has injected speed into daughters of SADLER’S WELLS, siring the high-class sprinter Rich Tapestry. Gr.2 2YO winner Rich Legacy, Gr.3 winner Aemilianus and Dewhurst runner-up Leitir Mor are among his Group winners out of GALILEO mares. Gr.2 winner L’Imperator and 2023 2YO Gr.3 winner Geography are from MONTJEU mares,as well as the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner Rashabar from a grand-daughter of MONTJEU, by CAMELOT.
He also sired the consistent Group performer Numerian from a HIGH CHAPARRAL mare. His classic-winning daughter Well Timed has a second dam by SADLER’S WELLS.
His high-class daughter Banimpire had a second dam by NUREYEV.
He has Gr.3 winners out of mares by FASLIYEV, STRAVINSKY and PEINTRE CELEBRE (2) and his American Gr.1 winner Glorious Empire has a dam by PIVOTAL.
Holy Roman Emperor has three stakes winners with second dams by GREEN DESERT. His fast son Louis The Pious is inbred 3x3 to DANZIG and his Gr.2-winning daughter Mango Diva has three lines of DANZIG, including 2x3 to DANEHILL. The very tough Dewhurst Stakes second Leitir Mor and the Australian Gr.2 winner The Inferno are others inbred 2x3 to DANEHILL.
Holy Roman Emperor has impressive statistics with daughters of CADEAUX GENEREUX, siring four BTWs from 18 foals, including the classic-winning Well Timed.
Holy Roman Emperor sired 1,000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen from a DIESIS mare, plus American Gr.1 winner Rockemperor and Gr.3 winner Roman Mist from mares by Diesis’s grandson MUHTATHIR.
In siring the Irish 1,000 Guineas second Ishvana, the Gr.1 winner Morandi and the Gr.1-placed Ottilien, Holy Roman Emperor ranks as one of five sons of Danehill to have sired a Group winner from daughters of BERING.
Holy Roman Emperor has pleasing results with the MR PROSPECTOR line, including Group-winning 2yos out of mares by MACHIAVELLIAN and ZAFONIC. He also has a Gr.3 winner out of a mare by ZAFONIC’s son IFFRAAJ. His talented daughter Great Generation has a dam by DUTCH ART.
Holy Roman Emperor sired the high-class Banimpire from a KRIS S. mare and the Gr.3 winner Victoria Messalina from a daughter of ARCH. He also has speedy SWs from daughters of SRI PEKAN and DR FONG and a New Zealand Gr.1 winner with a RED RANSOM dam.

Holy Roman Emperor has sired the Irish 2,000 Guineas and Prix Jacques le Marois winner Romanised and a 2yo Listed winner from mares by INDIAN RIDGE.
When his son Roman Turbo won the Anglesey Stakes, Holy Roman Emperor became the fifth son of Danehill to sire a Group winner from mares by MONSUN.
