Ten Sovereigns started a very hot favourite for the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes over six furlongs and retained his unbeaten record in this historic event, earning a Timeform rating of 120p, the “p” signifying that he was likely to improve further. This he did, with the pinnacle of his 3YO season coming in the Gr.1 July Cup over six furlongs. Tackling older horses for the first time, he won by nearly three lengths from Gr.1 winners Advertise and Fairyland.
Ten Sovereigns was expected to make a fast start to his stallion career and this he has done with three Stakes winners.
As DANZIG is back in the fifth generation of Ten Sovereign’s foals, there is no barrier to further lines. The GREEN DESERT branch played a major role in No Nay Never becoming champion sire of 2yos in 2022. His dual Gr.1 winner Blackbeard is out of a mare by BORN TO SEA, a son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT while Gr.2 winner Aesop’s Fables is out of a daughter of SHINKO FOREST. No Nay Never has a 7f Gr.3 winner out of a mare by SEA THE STARS. No Nay Never has an impressive 22% SWs from 18 foals out of mares by OASIS DREAM, including Gr.2 2YO winners Array and Les Pavots. Sioux Nation, another Scat Daddy son, has two Group winners inbred 3x3 to OASIS DREAM.
No Nay Never’s Gr.1 winner Alcohol Free is out of a grand-daughter of Danzig. He is working well with mares by sons of DANEHILL. In addition to Ten Sovereigns, out of an EXCEED AND EXCEL mare, No Nay Never has good horses out of daughters of ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (Gr.2 scorer Land Force), FASTNET ROCK (Gr.1-placed Pearls And Rubies, plus Gr.2 NZ winner Need I Say More), DANEHILL DANCER and CATCHER IN THE RYE. Ten Sovereigns already has a Listed winner with a dam by ZOFFANY and the Gr.2-placed Kalispera out of a FASTNET ROCK mare.
Scat Daddy’s son Caravaggio sired his first Gr.1 winner from a PIVOTAL mare and No Nay Never has Listed winners out of daughters of PIVOTAL and PEINTRE CELEBRE. PIVOTAL sired the 2nd dam of the top-class 2YO Blackbeard.
No Nay Never is thriving with mares with MR PROSPECTOR blood. The Gr.2-winning siblings Arizona and Nay Lady Nay have a dam by ENGLISH CHANNEL, a son of SMART STRIKE. Two more of his Gr.2 winners, including the 2yo Zain Claudette, are out of daughters of SPEIGHTSTOWN and CHESTER HOUSE. Sons of Scat Daddy have sired the fast performers Ramatuelle and Tiber Flow from RAVEN’S PASS mares.
STORM CAT is another who will be well back in Ten Sovereigns’ foals. Ten Sovereigns should do well with mares by such as FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND, SHAMARDAL and LOPE DE VEGA.
No Nay Never’s Gr.2 winners Shadn and Visualisation have dams by SADLER’S WELLS, who also sired the dam of Justify’s Gr.1-winning daughter Opera Singer. No Nay Never also has Group-winning 2YOs out of GALILEO mares. Justify’s best performer out of a GALILEO mare is the top-class City of Troy. HIGH CHAPARRAL mares have produced three Group winners (14%) to No Nay Never and Ten Sovereigns already has the dual Listed winner Mysterious Shadow out of one.
No Nay Never has a Gr.3 winner out of an INDIAN RIDGE mare and his Group winners Wichita, Land Force and Love Locket all have 2nd dams by INDIAN RIDGE.
