Black Type Double For Walk In The Park

The Enabler (4g Walk In The Park - Nanny Stone, by Flemensfirth) completed a black-type double for Walk In The Park on Sunday when impressing in the Listed bumper at Navan.

Gordon Elliott’s charge drew clear at Punchestown last time out and was sent off favourite on his latest start under Harry Swan. Leading from flag-fall, he was pushed clear from two furlongs out and ran on well to score by four lengths. Fleur In The Park (Walk In The Park) completed a 1-2 for their Grange Stud sire, finishing 11 lengths clear of the third horse.

“He's a nice horse,” the winning trainer said. “We knew he'd improved, he's improving the whole time, and I'd say he's a proper horse. We won't do too much more this year. We've all the options for him, he looks very good.”

Elliott bought the exciting prospect for €200,000 following his promising debut for Mary Doyle. Now owned by Gigginstown House Stud, he is the first foal bred by Minch and Pate Bloodstock out of Nanny Stone (Flemensfirth)

At Thurles earlier that afternoon, the Henry de Bromhead-trained Birdie Or Bust (5m Walk In The Park - Bint Valkyrie, by Beneficial) captured the Listed Mares’ Novice Hurdle under Rachael Blackmore.

The JP McManus-owned mare ran out an impressive winner of a maiden hurdle earlier this year and returned in October to finish third against geldings in a Grade 3. She raced prominently throughout Sunday’s two mile contest and was pushed along from the second last. Leading at the final flight, she was ridden out to score by three and a quarter lengths.

“She ran really well and we were delighted with her,” de Bromhead said after the race. “She definitely wasn't herself the last day but looked back to herself today with the way she jumped and travelled. She has options and is lovely mare.”

The trainer bought Birdie Or Bust at the Goffs Land Rover Sale for €78,000. The daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Eclipse Bloodstock and Gary Hadden.
