Exciting Son Of Vadamos Delivers On Rules Debut
Impressive point-to-point winner King Of Kingsfield (4g Vadamos - Passion Planet, by Medicean) made a smart start for new connections in Saturday’s bumper at Down Royal.
The son of Vadamos could hardly have been more impressive on debut in March when winning four-year-old maiden at Portush by a distance for breeder and trainer Patrick Turley. Subsequently sold privately to Gigginstown House Stud, he was sent off a short-priced favourite on his first start for Gordon Elliott and travelled strongly throughout under Jamie Codd. Asked to challenge from two furlongs out, he soon led and was ridden out to score by a comfortable three and a half lengths.
“King Of Kingsfield is a good horse,” Elliott said after the race. “He will be a lovely horse with a summer's grass.”
King Of Kingsfield hails from the first crop of Vadamos, bred when the top-class son of Monsun stood in a flat capacity. Later recruited by Grange Stud, Vadamos has made a bright start in the national hunt sphere, with progeny including black-type hurdle Calvados (Vadamos), the unbeaten Matata (Vadamos) and smart bumper winner Nucky Johnson (Vadamos).
