Getaway And Soldier Of Fortune Share The Spoils At Dromahane
The judge could not separate Marty McFly (4g Getaway - Barbalicious, by Indian Danehill) and Pride Of Erin (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Tavadden, by Presenting) in Sunday’s four-year-old maiden at Dromahane.
Both were making their second start in the 11 runner contest and raced in midfield, improving from four out. Pride Of Erin led from the second last under Brian Lawless, but was headed approaching the final fence by Marty McFly and Sean Staples. Rallying on the run in, he ran on well to join his rival on the line, with the judge declaring the result a dead heat.
Marty McFly (Getaway) is trained by Paul Pierce and was bred by Peter Greaney from the family of Glens Melody. Pride Of Erin (Soldier Of Fortune) is trained by Donnchadh Doyle and was bred by Ian Dullea out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Mariah Rollins.
