Nucky Johnson (Vadamos) Wins The Rated Novice Hurdle At Naas

Grade 2 Target For Progressive Son Of Vadamos

Nucky Johnson (5g Vadamos - Sinful Pleasure, by Sinndar) will step up to Graded company after winning Thursday’s feature at Naas, the Rated Novice Hurdle over two miles.

Noel Meade’s charge made a bright start to his career when finishing third in the Land Rover Bumper and returned with a clear bumper win in October. Last seen winning a maiden hurdle at Punchestown, the bay was ridden by Liam McKenna on return and tracked the leaders for much of the way. Improving into second approaching the penultimate flight, he ran on well to lead on the run-in and was pushed out to win by five and a half lengths, going away.

Noel Meade later earmarked the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse for the winner, while looking further ahead, he said, “He is related to a Group 3 winner in Italy and it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he might have a run on the Flat. He looks to have enough gears.”

Bred by Mrs C Hartery and J Dewberry, the son of Vadamos is also a half-brother to Listed chase winning Brave Eagle (Yeats).
