Impressive New Stakes Winner By Vadamos

Luisa Casati (5m Vadamos - La Marchesa, by Duke Of Marmalade) ran down the highly-rated favourite to win the Listed Daisy Warwick Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood on Friday.

The Tom Ward-trained mare made a smart seasonal reappearance at Saint-Cloud when beaten just a quarter of a length in a Listed race by two older horses, and remained over the mile and a half trip on Friday. Ridden towards the back of the field by Richard Kingscote, the bay became short of room three furlongs from home and was switched left to challenge a furlong later. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she ran on strongly to head the 102-rated favourite and led by a length on the line, with another three lengths back to the third.

“She's come back bigger and better than ever this season,” the winning trainer later commented. “She ran a blinder in France and then coming here I was hopeful of another good run, but I didn't think she'd beat the Juddmonte horse. She's clearly a nice filly for the future. We may come back for the Lillie Langtry if the ground is right.”

Owned by Velocity Racing, Luisa Casati was bred by Mark Dixon and Mount Coote Estates. She becomes a sixth individual Stakes winner by Grange Stud’s popular recruit Vadamos, whose first crops also include Grade 1 Champion Bumper third King Of Kingsfield and black-type hurdler Calvados. His first NH foals sold for up to €64,000 last year to the likes of Timmy Hillman, Abbeylands Farm, Glenvale Stud, Rathmore Stud, Kevin Ross, Warren Ewing and Peter and Ross Doyle.
