Improving Son Of Vadamos Lands Grade 3 Chase

Madrilene (4g Vadamos – Cadix, by Califet) made a successful step up in class in Sunday’s Grade 3 Premio Piero e Franco Richar at Merano.

Trained by Josef Vana Junior for Scuderia Aichner, the son of Vadamos drew 10 lengths clear in a four-year-old chase earlier this year and stepped up to two miles and three furlongs at the weekend. Ridden to make all by Jo Bartos, the bay quickened when challenged by stablemate Krokodile Dundee and stayed on strongly to score by six lengths, with another eight lengths back to the third.

“He is a very good horse and a fine jumper,” said the winning rider. “He won easily and has room for improvement.”

The ML Bloodstock-bred four-year-old becomes a second blacktype winner in the space of a week for Vadamos, whose son Spycatcher recently landed the Group 3 Prix de Meautry at Deauville.
