More To Come From Son Of Vadamos After Maiden Win
Wednesday saw the Andrew Slattery-trained Sunwalk (4g Vadamos - Walk In Beauty, by Shamardal) gain a deserved win over an extended ten furlongs at Dundalk.
Narrowly denied on the turf last season, the Pat Garvey-owned bay finished fourth on his last two starts and was sent off second favourite for the maiden. Chasing the leader for much of the way, he asserted four furlongs from home and was ridden entering the final furlong. Running on well, he prevailed by a neck on the line under Andy Slattery.
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Brian Slattery said, “Sunwalk has shown us a lot more at home than what he has produced so far on the track. He's a very big horse and it's probably going to take time to grow into himself. He will jump a hurdle.”
Bred by Meriebelle Stud Farm, Sunwalk hails from the first crop of Vadamos, who now resides at Grange Stud. Vadamos was responsible for another first crop winner earlier this week when Justicialism scored over hurdles at Punchestown.
