Progressive Son Of Vadamos Tops Goffs London Sale

Grange Stud’s exciting recruit Vadamos provided the highlight of Monday’s Goffs London Sale, which saw the progressive Zinc White (3g Vadamos - Chinese White, by Dalakhani) sell for £310,000.

Dan Astbury and Oliver Greenall supplied the sales-topping bid on behalf of a new client, who is dreaming of Cheltenham Festival glory with his pricey acquisition. “From what I've seen of him he looks to have a fantastic attitude and he's very likeable,” Greenall commented. “If it rained we might run him at Ascot but if not, he'll have a break and we'll get him ready for a hurdling campaign. Hopefully he'll have a great future with Cheltenham being the long-term aim.”

The sale represented a plan realised for Alex Elliott, who purchased Zinc White when seeking staying types at the yearling sales, with a view to resell. Speaking after the sale, the agent said, “For Zinc White to go on and be sold today is a little bit bittersweet because we think he's a very good horse, but that's the programme we've put in place and it's a trading syndicate. Ralph and his team absolutely love the horse but it makes good economic sense when the yearling sales are around the corner.”

Zinc White has proven an exciting prospect this season, having won both his starts this season for Ralph Beckett, and most recently raced seven and a half lengths clear in a mile and six furlong contest at Sandown. Bred by Skymarc Farm, he hails from the promising first crop of Vadamos, who joined the Grange Stud roster this season. His first crop also includes the multiple Stakes-placed Spycatcher and black-type performer Messidor, both of whom hold Royal Ascot entries.
