Coco Jack (Wings Of Eagles) Wins At Hamilton

Promising Juvenile From First Irish Crop By Wings Of Eagles

There should be plenty more to come from Coco Jack (2g Wings Of Eagles - Bright Morning, by Storm Cat) after overcoming a slow start to win the six furlong Novice Stakes at Hamilton.

George Scott’s charge finished a promising fifth on debut last month and was sent off favourite under Ben Curtis on Thursday. Held up in midfield, he encountered a troubled passage with two furlongs left to race and made headway approaching the final furlong. Ridden to lead 110 yards out, he ran on well to win by a head.

Coco Jack was bred by Stuart McPhee and hails from the first Irish crop of Beeches Stud sire Wings Of Eagles. The Epsom Derby winner moved to his current base after starting his stallion career in France, where his first crop included Listed winner Blue Wings (Wings Of Eagles). That same crop also produced See My Eagle (Wings Of Eagles), a four and a half length winner over hurdles last month.
