Promising Vadamos Mare Gets Off The Mark
A change in tactics proved just the trick for Bynx (5m Vadamos - Volcanic Lady, by Invincible Spirit) on Friday, when getting off the mark in the mares’ maiden hurdle at Tramore.
The Martin Hassett-trained mare had previously placed over hurdles and was well-supported to deliver on her first start since March. Racing prominently under Brian Hayes, she improved to lead approaching the second last and was ridden when challenged after the penultimate flight. Keeping on well on the run-in, she beat Lucky Viv (Yeats) by half a length, with another five lengths back to the favourite in third.
“We came here fairly confident,” Hassett later revealed. “She was working well at home. She is tough and genuine.”
Owned by the BTF Racing Club, the daughter of Grange Stud sire Vadamos was bred by Caroline, Mark and Stephanie Hanly.
