Promising Walk In The Park Mare Lands Galway Festival Bumper
Carrigmoorna Queen (5m Walk In The Park - Carrigmoorna Holly, by Beat Hollow) shaped like a smart prospect when leading home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore NH sires in the mares’ bumper at the Galway Festival.
A promising debut second at Punchestown in December, the Willie Mullins-trained bay was sent off favourite on return and was ridden prominently by Patrick Mullins. Asserting with ease approaching the final furlong, she was ridden clear soon after and went on to win by four lengths. I Am Shadow (Getaway) claimed runners-up honours, while C’Est Rien (Walk In The Park) took third.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “It was a very nice performance and she built on her first run. I think she's a mare to go off jumping hurdles now. She has size and scope and I think she'll go on through the winter.”
Carrigmoorna Queen carries the colours of the Closutton Racing Club and is the first foal bred by Michael Veale out of Carrigmoorna Holly.
