Smart Newcomer Completes Double For Walk In The Park
Resplendent Grey (4g Walk In The Park - Caltra Princess, by Traditionally) drew clear to make an impressive winning debut in Thursday’s bumper at Market Rasen.
Olly Murphy’s charge raced towards the back of the field under Sean Bowen and was asked to quicken from over four furlongs out. The Mrs Skan-owned grey still had plenty to do a furlong later, but began to make good headway two furlongs from home and found a new gear inside the final furlong. The winning margin was eight and a half lengths, with Trip Switch (Soldier Of Fortune) making a promising rules debut in second.
Bred by Ms Maria Kavanagh, he completed a double on the day for Walk In The Park, with Mount Tempest (5g Walk In The Park - Tempest Missile, by Presenting) having landed the Novices’ Hurdle at Leicester earlier that day.
The Dan Skelton-trained bay shaped with promise on last month’s hurdle debut and dropped back to two miles on Thursday. Ridden prominently by Harry Skelton, he was ridden to lead before the second last and dug deep on the run-in to deny the more experienced favourite by half a length.
Mount Tempest runs in the colours of Highclere Racing and was bred by G Merrigan.
