Smart Son Of Walk In The Park Eases Clear On Hurdle Debut
Useful bumper horse Fascile Mode (5g Walk In The Park - C’Est La Mode, by Presenting) made an impressive start over hurdles at Punchestown on Wednesday.
The Tom Mullins-trained bay emerged as a smart prospect when winning a competitive bumper at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival and went on to finish fourth in a Grade 2 bumper. Sent off a short-priced favourite on his first start since April, he raced prominently throughout the two mile maiden hurdle and eased into the lead after the second last. Clear by the final flight, he kept on well on the run-in to win by 12 lengths under Michael O’Sullivan.
“We were expecting a very good run from Fascile Mode,” Mullins later said. “I'd say he learned a lot and I'm very happy with him. He’s brilliant at home and has done a lot of schooling.” On future plans, the trainer commented, “There's a novice at Cheltenham at the November meeting or there's the Royal Bond.”
The son of Walk In The Park runs in the colours of breeder Mrs Helen Mullins.
