Son Of Vadamos Completes Hat Trick On Return

Oo De Lally (3c Vadamos - In Dubai, by Giant’s Causeway) brought his winning run to three when defying top-weight in Friday’s Class 3 contest at Newcastle.

Successful on his second start in September, the Andrew Balding-trained colt doubled up in fine style next time out and was sent off favourite on his first appearance since October. Once again racing over seven furlongs, he tracked the leader under William Carver and was shaken up to lead approaching the final furlong. Pushed out close home, he kept on to deny Majestic Tejaan (Zoffany) by a neck on the line.

Bought by his trainer as a yearling for €62,000, Oo De Lally is owned by J Palmer-Brown and was bred by Michael D Ryan. His latest victory comes just a day after it was announced that his sire Vadamos has joined the Grange Stud roster.

The son of Monsun hopes to mirror the popularity of Maxios, who covered 300 mares in his first season at Castlehyde Stud. Himself a Group 1 winner, Vadamos has made a bright start at stud, with his first crop including Group 3 Acomb Stakes second Spycatcher - that form boosted when the winner subsequently triumphed at Group 1 level.

Other representatives include Messidor, successful on his last two starts for Joseph O’Brien, while his second crop sold for up to £220,000 at the 2020 yearling sales. A select number of Vadamos foals were offered at the Tattersalls Ireland November NH Sale, where Richard Rohan bought a colt for €30,000, while Kevin Ross purchased three for a combined €99,000.
