Son Of Vadamos Impresses In Fairyhouse Bumper
The promising Nucky Johnson (4g Vadamos - Sinful Pleasure, by Sinndar) made a smart return to action when justifying favouritism in Saturday’s bumper at Fairyhouse.
Noel Meade’s charge finished third on his sole previous start in the valuable Goffs Land Rover Bumper at the Punchestown Festival and was ridden by Pat Taaffe once again on return. The bay raced prominently throughout and led when travelling best of the field two furlongs from home. Soon pushed along, he was ridden clear approaching the final furlong and was eased down to win by five and a half lengths.
“He's a nice horse,” the winning trainer later said. “Pat said when the other horse came to him he was going well and the minute he shook him up he was gone. I wouldn't think he'll run in another bumper and we'll go jumping hurdles straight away.”
Bred by Mrs Hartery and J Dewberry, Nucky Johnson is a half-brother to Listed winning chaser Brave Eagle (Yeats). He continued a terrific day for Grange Stud sire Vadamos, whose daughter La Crique (Vadamos) gained a deserved Group 1 win in the Arrowfield Stud Plate.
