Son Of Vadamos Makes Perfect Start Over Fences
The Other Mozzie (5g Vadamos – Leo’s Spirit, by Fantastic Light) appears to have a bright future over fences, after making a winning chase debut at Galway on Tuesday afternoon.
A maiden hurdle winner last season, Gavin Cromwell’s charge was partnered by Keith Donoghue on return in the Beginners Chase over two miles and two furlongs. Racing in touch with the leaders for much of the way, he was third when jumping the final fence and stayed on well on the run-in to lead by half a length on the line.
“He's done it well,” Donoghue said after the race. “He improved for a fence, he jumps a fence a lot better than he jumps a hurdle. He's after strengthening up well hopefully he can keep building on it.”
The son of Grange Stud sire Vadamos is owned by the Pique Syndicate and was bred by Christopher Maye.
