Son Of Walk In The Park Draws Clear On Debut

Gidleigh Park (5g Walk In The Park - Lindeman, by Presenting) shaped like a smart prospect when drawing clear to win Sunday’s bumper at Chepstow.

The Harry Fry-trained newcomer was positioned in mid-division by Jonathan Burke and began to make headway from over four furlongs out. Pushed along to lead approaching the two furlong marker, he drew clear inside the final furlong and led by six lengths on the line. The performance was made even more taking by the runner-up, himself a previous winner, finishing seven and a half lengths clear of the favourite in third.

Owned by the Eyre Family, Gidleigh Park was bred by Mr and Mrs R Kelvin-Hughes.

He completed a double on the day for Walk In The Park, with Blagthebookies (5g Walk In The Park - Who Let De Dogsout, by Oscar) having earlier landed the five-year-old geldings maiden at Ballyragget point-to-point.

Fourth on both his previous starts, Sean Doyle’s charge raced prominently throughout under Jamie Scallan and was ridden approaching the second last. Keeping on well on the run-in, he led close home to win by a neck.

Owned by Gearoid Doyle and bred by M O’Callaghan, Blagthebookies becomes the first winner out of his dam.
