Talented Son Of Vadamos Takes Chester Plate

Zinc White (5g Vadamos - Chinese White, by Dalakhani) overcame a notable absence to make a winning start for Ian Williams in Friday’s Chester Plate.

The son of Vadamos sold for £310,000 after recording impressive back-to-back wins for Ralph Beckett, but subsequently suffered a setback and faced an absence of over 18 months on his stable debut. Stepping up to two miles and two furlongs, the grey was held up at the back of the field by Jim Crowley and began to make headway from three furlongs out. Leading approaching the final furlong, he was ridden clear to beat the favourite by two and a quarter lengths comfortably.

Speaking after the race, a delighted Ian Williams said, “He hadn't run for a long time, so you can't not be delighted with his performance. We have family here and it's great to see – it's always great to get a winner at Chester.”

A step up in class may now be on the cards for Zinc White, who is owned by S Beetham and DPL Fab Ltd. The son of Grange Stud sire Vadamos was bred by Skymarc Farm.
