Useful Son Of Vadamos Makes Smart Start Over Fences
Talented hurdler Matata (5g Vadamos - Wattrey, by Royal Academy) made an impressive start over fences at Ffos Las on Sunday.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ charge was sent off favourite for the two mile chase, in spite of carrying top weight, and gave supporters little cause for concern with a fine round of jumping. The bay led from flag fall and began to draw clear from the third last, easing down close home to win by ten lengths.
Matata adds to two novice hurdle wins for Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, for whom he also finished sixth in a Grade 1 at Aintree. Bred by Donal Commins, the son of Vadamos was purchased following his debut win for David Murphy in a four-year-old maiden at Tallow.
