Walk In The Park Colt Sets New High At €110,000

A colt by Walk In The Park became the highest-priced national hunt foal of the 2023 sales season when bringing €110,000 at the Goffs December NH Sale.

The January-born bay was supplemented following the impressive return of his half-brother Stage Star (Fame And Glory) in a Grade 3 last month, and was consigned by Baroda Stud as Lot 157A. Several leading pinhookers lined up to bid on the colt, but it was left to Glenwood Stud to outbid Charles Shanahan, Gerry Aherne and Ciaran ‘Flash’ Conroy.

Glenwood’s JJ Frisby later revealed, “We didn’t think we’d have to go as far as we did to get him. We actually walked away, but had a quick chat and came back with one more bid, which was enough to get him. The sire’s stock has a premium attached to them, you have to pay that bit extra for them.”

On the opening day’s top lot, Baroda Stud’s David Cox said, “He is a lovely colt and has been since birth. Stage Star was so impressive on his return in the Paddy Power and after that we decided we would supplement him here, as he looks better than ever.”
