Walk In The Park Colt Tops November NH Sale At €100,000

A son of Walk In The Park lived up to his breeder’s high expectations when selling for a sales-topping €100,000 at Tattersalls Ireland.

After Gerry Aherne and Charles Shanahan supplied the final bid, breeder and consignor Oliver Loughlin said, “As soon as this colt was born I thought I might hit the jackpot as he came out looking like a star from the start.”

Loughlin bred the bay out of his talented homebred Posh Trish, whose first foal and full-brother to the November NH Sale topper, sold for €85,000 12 months ago. He hopes to continue the mare’s successful start with a return to Walk In The Park next Spring, he later revealed. “He is a good stallion, she was a good mare and the plan is to breed the best to the best. She is not in foal, but is being prepared for February and, please God, we might get a filly, and we would keep her.”

The colt’s purchasers have yet to finalise their plans for the February-born colt, with Aherne saying, “For us he is the best foal here. We probably will race him, but it's too soon to decide for sure. The way the stallion is going, we were anxious to get the best ones we can.”
