Walk In The Park Filly Impresses On Rules Debut
Mayor’s Walk (4f Walk In The Park - Hell Cat Maggie, by Flemensfirth) made an impressive start to new connections in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Listowel on Monday.
The daughter of Walk In The Park made a winning debut for Colin Bowe at Lingstown, and with the runner-up later selling for £150,000, presumably later sold for a tidy sum herself. Now trained by Henry de Bromhead for Stephen McCarthy, she took on older horses on her rules debut and chased the leader for much of the two and a half mile contest. She was travelling best of the field when challenging before the second last and led soon after. Running on well, she went on to win by six and a half lengths under Rachael Blackmore.
“Mayor’s Walk is a really nice mare,” Blackmore commented. “Her jumping was very good and professional and hopefully that's just the start for her.”
Mayor’s Walk was bred by Kieran Cotter out of the winning Flemensfirth mare Hell Cat Maggie, who has a yearling colt by Crystal Ocean.
