Lionnar (Walk In The Park) Wins The Bumper At The Curragh

Walk In The Park Mare Delivers On Second Start

Lionnar (4f Walk In The Park - Scarlet Sky, by Flemensfirth) completed a treble for Joseph O’Brien at the Curragh when taking the two mile bumper under John Gleeson.

The daughter of Walk In The Park shaped with promise on debut last month when running on well into fourth, and was ridden more prominently on her second start. Pushed along from the three furlong marker, she was ridden approaching the final furlong and ran on well to lead close home. The winning margin was three parts of a length, with another five and a half lengths back to the third.

Speaking after the race, the in-form O’Brien said, “She had a nice run first time out and John gave her a lovely ride. She's a nice filly and could go for another winners' bumper now.”

Bred by Whisperview Trading, Lionnar races in the colours of the Annus Mirabilis Syndicate. She becomes the first winner out of Scarlet Sky (Flemensfirth), herself a full-sister to black-type performer Kalopsia (Flemensfirth) and a half-sister to Listed winner Lunar Display (Getaway).
