Walk In The Park Mare Eases Clear On Hurdle Bow
The talented Aurora Vega (6m Aurora Vega – Quevega, by Robin Des Champs) made an impressive start to her hurdling career at Cork on Monday.
The Willie Mullins-trained mare won her first three starts in bumpers, including at Listed level, and was last seen landing a Grade 3 at the Punchestown Festival. Sent off favourite for the mares' maiden hurdle, she raced prominently throughout under Paul Townend and led after the third last. Clear approaching the final flight, she needed little encouragement to score by 14 lengths
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “She had a look around but it is wide open out there and her ability kicked in in the home straight. I think there is plenty to come from her.”
Owned and bred by the Hammer and Trowel Syndicate, the daughter of Walk In The Park is a full-sister to the triple Grade 1 winner Facile Vega (Walk In The Park).
