Walk In The Park Mare Impresses On Debut
Aurora Vega (5m Walk In The Park - Quevega, by Robin Des Champs) confirmed herself an exciting prospect when making an impressive debut in the mares’ bumper at Sligo on Tuesday evening.
A full-sister to four-time Grade 1 winner Facile Vega (Walk In The Park), the Willie Mullins-trained bay was sent off a short-priced favourite on her racecourse debut. Soon settled to race in touch with the leaders, she was travelling well when leading after the two furlong pole and was shaken up on the run for home. Never threatened, she led by 12 lengths on the line.
“Once we got upsides horses she locked on,” winning rider Patrick Mullins said after the race. “She's not the flashiest at home but I think she's probably better than her work and I think there's more there in the tank, she's one that will keep giving. I don't know what the plan will be now.”
The exciting daughter of Walk In The Park is owned and bred by the Hammer & Trowel Syndicate.
