Walk In The Park Mare Proves A Cut Above
The Henry de Bromhead-trained Birdie Or Bust (5m Walk In The Park - Bint Valkyrie, by Beneficial) ran out an impressive winner of the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary on Thursday.
The JP McManus-owned mare had finished runner-up against geldings in both her previous starts and was sent off favourite on her first start since January. Ridden to make all by Rachael Blackmore, she travelled strongly throughout and began to ease clear from the second last. The daughter of Walk In The Park was never challenged and kept on to win by an easy 14 lengths.
“Birdie Or Bust did it really well,” Blackmore said after the race. “It was a really nice performances and she didn't have to kick into her reserves.”
Bred by Eclipse Bloodstock and G Hadden, Birdie Or Bust was bought by her trainer at the Goffs Land Rover Sale for €78,000.
