Firefox (Walk In The Park) Wins The Bumper At Down Royal

Walk In The Park’s Firefox Completes Hat-Trick On Return

Exciting prospect Firefox (5g Walk In The Park - Cuteasafox, by Vinnie Roe) eased clear to his third consecutive success at Down Royal on Friday.

Bective Stud’s pricey purchase got off the mark with a ten length success in February and followed up at Fairyhouse two months later. Sent off favourite on his seasonal return, Gordon Elliott’s charge made all under Harry Swan and began to extend his advantage from two furlongs out. Running on well, he won by a comfortable five and a half lengths.

“He's a lovely horse and he'll go jumping now,” the in-form trainer said. “I'd say we will go hurdling now but the Grade 1 Royal Bond Hurdle will probably come a bit quick.”

Bred by Grange Stud, Firefox was sold by Ballincurrig House Stud at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €280,000. The son of Walk In The Park is a half-brother to the same connections’ Grade 3 performer Bosses Oscar (Oscar).
